Configure ClassLink (OneRoster) Credentials

Steps for school and district admins to integrate their Classlink with Stukent CTE.

Written by Ryan Brown

This information is for District IT administrators only.

Stukent CTE rosters your classes through ClassLink using the OneRoster standard. To connect, a district IT administrator copies three credentials from ClassLink Roster Server and pastes them into Stukent CTE.

Before you start, contact Stukent CTE support and request a link to set up your district with ClassLink. If you haven't received that link yet, contact support first.

What you'll need

You'll copy three values from ClassLink into the OneRoster Setup page in Stukent CTE:

Stukent CTE field

What it is

Where it appears in ClassLink

OneRoster API URL

The base URL for your district's OneRoster API endpoint

ClassLink Endpoint URL, bottom left of any Roster Server page

Client ID

Your OAuth2 client identifier

Key, under the app's API Credentials

Client Secret

Your OAuth2 client secret

Secret, under the app's API Credentials

You'll also need a ClassLink account with District Admin access to Roster Server.

Finding your credentials in ClassLink

The Stukent CTE app must be added and approved in your ClassLink account before credentials appear. If you don't see it under All Applications, accept Stukent's connection request or contact support.

  1. Go to launchpad.classlink.com and sign in with your District Admin credentials.

  2. On your LaunchPad, click ClassLink Roster Server. You may need to click a second Sign In button.

  3. Look at the bottom left of any Roster Server page. Copy the ClassLink Endpoint URL. This is your OneRoster API URL.

  4. In the top navigation, open the Apps dropdown and click All Applications.

  5. Find Stukent CTE in the list. On the right side of its row, click the Settings gear icon (More Actions).

  6. On the app's Overview page, click API in the left navigation.

  7. Click the grayed-out API Credentials link just above the date.

  8. Copy the Key. This is your Client ID.

  9. Copy the Secret. This is your Client Secret. You can use the Copy to Clipboard button for each value.

Keep your Client Secret private. Share it only through the Stukent CTE OneRoster Setup page, never by email.

Entering your credentials in Stukent CTE

  1. Open the setup link Stukent CTE support sent you. You should see a OneRoster Setup page.

  2. Paste the ClassLink Endpoint URL into OneRoster API URL.

  3. Paste the Key into Client ID.

  4. Paste the Secret into Client Secret.

  5. Click Save and Continue.

If you receive a successful connection you can click the Save and Continue button to complete the linking process.

We're finished! Your ClassLink integration is now ready to be used.

If you receive an unsuccessful connection message please double check your information and try again or reach out to support for more information.

Troubleshooting

  • Stukent CTE isn't in my app list. The app hasn't been added or approved yet. Accept the connection request in ClassLink, or contact Stukent CTE support.

  • The connection fails after I save. Check that the OneRoster API URL ends in /ims/oneroster/v1p1. Add it to the end of the Endpoint URL if it's missing.

  • I copied the wrong value. The Tenant ID next to the Endpoint URL is not needed. Use only the Endpoint URL, Key and Secret.

  • Still stuck? Contact Stukent CTE support, or reach ClassLink at rostersupport@classlink.com.
